Why did I receive a Florida personalized license plate form with my registration?

Personalized license plates, numbers and/or letters that are customized by the registered owner,  are subject to the same replacement statute as standard license plates. When the DMV determines it's time that your personalized plate be replaced, you’ll first receive a new registration card and decal along with a form to complete and return to eTags.

Four to six weeks later, once the State has produced a new version of your same personalized plate, you’ll receive a second eTags shipment containing the new license plate along with a new registration, and sticker.

The old license plate can be disposed in the trash after cutting it in half just like you would with a credit card, or  it can be returned to the DMV. You would also shred the first registration we mailed you since it's no longer valid.
